Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover your use of this website and any work you hire Caliber Stamford Concrete to do. By using the site, asking for an estimate or booking a job with us, you agree to them, so please read them before you do.
If a written estimate or contract we give you for a specific job says something different from this page, the written estimate or contract wins for that job.
What we do
We're a concrete contractor in Stamford, CT, and we build and repair driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, garage floors, footings, foundations and other concrete work for homes and businesses in Stamford and the cities around it. You can see the full list of services on our home page and read more about our crew on our About page.
What's on this website is general information to help you plan. It isn't a quote, a design or advice for your particular property, because every slab depends on the ground under it, the way water runs across your yard and what the job has to carry.
Estimates and pricing
Our estimates are free and given in person, and asking for one doesn't commit you to anything. We come out and look at the site because the price of concrete work depends on things we have to see, such as the size of the area, how much old concrete has to come out, how much digging and base work the ground needs, access for the truck and the finish you pick.
An estimate is based on what we can see before the job starts. If we open the ground and find something nobody could see beforehand, like soft soil, buried debris, old footings or roots, we'll stop, show you, and explain what it changes before we do any extra work or charge for it.
Changes you ask for after we agree on a price, such as a bigger area, a different finish or added steps, are priced separately, and we'll confirm them with you before we do them.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We schedule work in the order jobs are booked, and we'll give you a start date once you approve the estimate. Concrete is weather work, so rain, freezing temperatures or extreme heat can push a pour back, because pouring in the wrong conditions gives you a weaker slab that won't last. When that happens we reschedule at no charge, and we'll call you as soon as we know.
If you need to cancel or move your date, call us at (475) 333-3026 as early as you can. If we've already ordered concrete, rented equipment or done prep work by the time you cancel, you'll be responsible for those costs, and any other cancellation terms will be written on your estimate or contract.
Your part of the job
We need clear access to the work area on the scheduled days, and you're responsible for knowing where your property lines are and for telling us about anything buried that a utility locate wouldn't find, such as sprinkler lines, private gas or electric lines or septic parts.
Some concrete work needs a permit from the city or town where the property is, and the rules differ from place to place. Unless your contract says we'll handle it, getting any permit or approval your local building office or homeowners association requires is up to you, and we're glad to tell you what we know about the job when you ask.
Payment
Your estimate or contract lists the price, any deposit and when each payment is due. Payment for the balance is due when the work is finished unless your contract sets a different schedule.
If a payment is late, we may pause remaining work until it's paid, and you'll be responsible for reasonable costs of collecting the amount owed, as far as Connecticut law allows.
Our guarantee and what concrete does on its own
We're licensed and fully insured, and we guarantee your satisfaction with our workmanship. If something we built isn't right, call us and we'll come out, look at it with you and make it right when the problem comes from our work.
Concrete shrinks as it dries, so small hairline cracks are normal and aren't a defect. We cut control joints, which are planned grooves that give the slab a place to crack in a straight line instead of at random, but no contractor can promise a slab will never crack.
Our guarantee doesn't cover damage from things outside our control, including deicing salts, heavy trucks or equipment the slab wasn't built for, using the concrete before it has cured, ground movement or settling of soil we didn't prepare, tree roots, poor drainage elsewhere on the property, or repairs and changes made by someone else. Colored and stamped finishes can vary from samples and fade over time, which is normal for the material.
Other than what's written here and in your contract, we don't make any other promises about the work, express or implied, as far as the law allows.
Limits on our responsibility
We take care around your property, and we'll fix damage our crew causes through our own carelessness. We aren't responsible for indirect or follow-on losses, such as lost use of a driveway while concrete cures, lost income or damage from conditions we couldn't reasonably have known about.
Concrete trucks are heavy, so some wear on lawns, curbs or an existing driveway along the access path can happen even when we're careful, and we'll talk with you before the job about the best way in.
If we're found responsible for a loss, our responsibility won't be more than the amount you paid us for the job in question, as far as the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that the law doesn't allow a business to limit.
Using this website
The words, photos and design on this site belong to Caliber Stamford Concrete, and you may not copy them for commercial use without our permission. We try to keep the site accurate, but it may have mistakes or out-of-date details, so confirm anything that matters to your job with us directly.
Links to other websites are there for your convenience, and we aren't responsible for what's on them.
If we disagree
If you're unhappy with anything, call us first, because most problems get settled faster by talking it through on site. If we can't sort it out together, we both agree to try mediation with a neutral person before going to court.
If it still isn't settled, the dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts in Connecticut, unless the law requires otherwise.
Which state's law applies
These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, where we're based. That applies to jobs in our New York service areas too, although the local building rules where your property sits still apply to the work itself.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted on this page is the one that applies. A change won't alter a contract you've already signed with us unless we both agree to it in writing.
Questions about these terms
If anything here is unclear, call us at (475) 333-3026 or reach us through our Contact page, and we'll explain it before you book.
